Job Summary

  • To effectively manage the client account and secure new business.

    Provide excellent service delivery through effective management of the team, ensuring the people; processes and technology are efficiently managed with excellent service delivery being accountable for the overall quality, quantity and timeliness of work outputs. 

Responsibilities

  • Manage the work of Team Leaders/Account Executives.
  • Effectively manages the client’s portfolio.
  • Manages the Company’s response to new business opportunities.
  • Demonstrates professional expertise and ability to share knowledge with Team Leaders/Account Executives.
  • Monitor Team Leaders/ Account Executives to secure full prospect and secure new businesses.
  • Monitor work flow of the team and take appropriate action as required.
  • Authorizes cover note, check debit note, EoC, quote slips, endorsements, placement slip, wordings and addendums.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the nature and sources of law, the law of tort, law of contract, the insurance contract and their application in the local and overseas.
  • Understands and applies rules relating to taxes, levies and policy issuance, Data Protection Act, Money Laundering, Client Monies and Terms of Business Agreement (TOBA).
  • Understanding and application of fundamental legal and regulatory policy in relation to the insurance contract.
  • Advise on the legal requirements of the client as applicable to insurance.
  • Demonstrates awareness of the changes and development in regulation and the impact these have on the business both local and overseas understanding of procedures such as insurance Conduct Customer Fairly (TCF) concept, complaints handling requirement, market agreements.
  • Able to identify conflicts of interest and mitigate.
  • Ensure excellent service delivered through robust processes and effective oversight.
  • Anticipate potential service problems and instigate remedial action before these become visible to/affect customers directly, invoking escalation to management if necessary. Respond to any complaints and address underlying issues promptly.
  • Be proactive in seeking and sharing ideas for innovation in business processes and contribute to initiatives.
  • Recruit team members to maintain a full complement of resource at budgeted levels.
  • Ensure a suitable training and development plan, agreed objectives and performance review process is always in place for all team members. Establish a coaching environment to bring lesser-achievers closer to the standards of the best performers.
  • To produce/support meaningful, accurate management reports and statistical information.
  • Achieve departmental and Company-wide goals and business plans.
  • Ensures that all KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) meet and exceed the minimum standards.
  • Adhere to the contents of the Operating Procedures Manual (OPM) and the Company’s overall internal procedures and policies.
  • Nil E&Os.
  • Manage the work of Team Leaders/Account Executives.
  • Effectively manages the client’s portfolio.
  • Manages the Company’s response to new business opportunities.
  • Miscellaneous tasks within the scope of work, as assigned by the direct manager.

Qualifications

  • University degree.
  • Higher professional qualifications preferred e.g. ACII or FCII.

Preferred Skills

  • 10+ years of experience in insurance/broking market.
  • Market practices and procedural requirements.
  • Internal compliance and operational standards.
  • MS Office; Computer Literate
